Hike in forest trails or
along beautiful beaches embraced by waves and mountains. Climb up on the
high ridges for a spectacular view of the coastline on the western slope
and gaze into three million acres of wilderness in the Las Padres National
Forest on the eastern slope.
Night time will give you the opportunity to dine in restaurants from
rustic to breath taking. Relax in lodging that ranges from cabin style to
exquisite. Camp out in one of many gorgeous campgrounds. Relax at the
health spas, located at
Post
Ranch Inn,
Ventana
Inn, and
Esalen
Institute. Of course, one of the most favorite past-times of Big Sur, is
to do nothing.
The best time to visit Big Sur for great weather and less tourists is in
the Fall, otherwise, just prepare for great weather and lots of people in
the Spring and Summer. The good thing is that because Big Sur is so big,
that even with a lot of people, you probably won't see many when hiking in
the mountains or beaches. If you plan to lodge in Big Sur, then make
reservations well in advance.
